CRANE OVERLOAD PROTECTION SAFETY-BOY

Active for more than 30 years in the field of load limitation for lifting / hoisting equipment, SENSY has provided force transducers, load pins and tension load cells with redundant channels for several years now, thanks to Wheatstone bridges measuring the same deformation.

These can be used in SIL2, SIL3 (IEC / EN 61508), as well as PL d and PL e certified handling systems.

We can provide our customers with a complete solution, including a redundant sensor coupled to load-limitation electronics. This one, called SAFETY-BOY, is compliant with performance level PL d according to EN ISO 13849-1.

This electronic device permanently monitors its integrity via a ‘watchdog’ along with the integrity of the sensor by comparing the output signals from both channels. If necessary, a safety relay is activated.

Other parameters are also monitored: the imbalance of two acquisition channels, sensor wiring problems, incorrect power supply, etc.

On-site calibration is facilitated by a digital display. There are pre-alarm and overload thresholds for each channel. A protection system is available which avoids programming by unauthorised personnel. The SAFETY-BOY is also equipped with a self-resetting fuse.

This solution makes it possible to meet the new safety requirements of load-limitation systems for lifting devices, such as EOT cranes, gantries, cranes, etc.
