160t load pins for portal crane TGP 1400t at Chantiers de l’Atlantique

Chantiers de l’Atlantique, one of the world leaders in cruise ships, naval forces ships and electrical sub-stations for offshore wind turbines has decided, after tender results analysis, to place order to COMETE – J. Paris for the modernization of load measuring system of the 1400t TGP portal crane.

After multiple technical exchanges between COMETE – J. Paris and SENSY, technical solution offering the highest achievable accuracy has been selected.

The solution consists in manufacturing 160t load pins with embedded 4-20mA amplifiers with 0-200t measuring range replacing the shafts of the drive rollers of concerned trolleys. The load pins thus weigh the loads of trolley, hoisting kinematics and obviously lifted loads.

Lifting operations of the different modules of the vessels in construction and related overload protection being considered as critical, supplied 160t load pins are PL d Ready certified with redundant output signals.

Load pin design and choice of raw material has allowed us to reach a remarkable linearity of 0.25 %”.
